‘Spirit from the Tupi’
Flying in the air and able to walk on ‘all fours’ (quadrupedal) when on the ground
Tupuxuara was a pterosaur, a type of flying reptile (Pterosaur). It was NOT a dinosaur, though it lived during the same geological time period. There were many species of this creature of varying size. All had spectacular crests on their heads. Their ‘beaks’ were toothless.
Carnivore/omnivore. It was once suggested that Tupuxuara was a fish eater at the coast. However, based on its close relatives, it was most likely a land omnivore or carnivore living of lizards & small dinosaurs. One large species had a wind span of 5.5 metres.
Early Cretaceous (circa 110 million years ago)
